Did you know? That dogs need a good massage or hydrotherapy (swimming) in their grooming routine as they get older. Dogs that start to show signs of age start to develop joint,  muscle pain, and arthreitis. Keeping your pup active through it's entire life is key to healthy joints.

Did you know? Dogs need a job, a role with in the family unit. When training your new puppy think about what role that might be. It can be anything from protector, to helping you garden, by pulling your wagon. What ever you do, don't make your dog feel like the 5th wheel.

Some training advice for the week. No matter the problems with your dog or training challenges. Always remain calm, confident, and unafraid in what you are doing. If you leave the emotion out of it you can't do any wrong. It then just becomes communication

Did you know?Dogs and wolves are so aware of what is going on with their bodies. That they can tell when they have parisites such as worms. The wild canid will then eat rotting flesh to help kill the parisite that is stealing good nutrion from the dog.

From the book "The man Who lives with wolves" . By Shawn Ellis

Did you know? That dogs pay more attention to your body language than you think. They even will start to mirror your behaviors in certain situations. For example show nervousness during storms if you are nervous. Tense when people come over. The trick when interacting with your dog should always be calm and firm.

Did you know? That when dogs age they will need more care. Due to aching hips and muscles, they will need regular massages, teethbrushing, lighter excersise, more frequent Vet visits, and diet change. The beauty of the dog is that it knows when it's getting older they see to enjoy themselves by just being present. This is a diffucult time for dog owners as the dog goes into the twilight of its life. Just try and be there for your companion as it needs you to be calm and still its leaders.

Did you know? Dogs watch us a 100% of the time. They would be able to tell if you were lying, just by the slight body language you give off. So when training a dog you need to be a 100% aware of how you are feeling: emotional, and physical.

Did you know? Dogs lay around all day waiting to release their energy. Usually this means looking for food. When a dogs energy is aloud to build with no release you will start to see unwanted behaviors such as eating the sofa, uncontrollable excitement, nervousness, aggression, possessivenes, and neurotic behaviors. It is very important for your dog that their energy is drained everyday to simulate the challenge of working together for food such as walking or running.

Did you know? That the dogs sence of smell is so powerful it can almost make out images. Example when a smell travels over a wall. The dog can almost in a way see the wall through its nose, due to the way the smell traveled.

Did you know? Dogs that have bonded with people and other dogs within the family will commonly lay next to or have to be in the same room with everyone. The reason is that the pack is huge for their survival. In their mind the closer the pack the stronger the pack. The more distance away from the pack, the weaker it is.

"For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack."

Did you know? That dogs learn to function as one unit from the day they are born, and learn their role with in the family. When bringing the new guy home in his mind it needs to restucture in order to survive. So the dog that was quiet and less entergetic might change due to how you interact and what role it needs to take in its new enviroment.

Did you know? That a dogs sence of smell is so strong, that they can determine what you commonly eat just by smelling you. This in return will help your dog determine your rank within the family. Example high quality food means high rank in the pack. Sweets and empty calories are bad and mean weakness.
